What’s In My Travel Bag?

Good afternoon lovelies,

As promised, I was inspired by Penny Berry’s post about her travel essentials and I decdided to share with you some of those that I’ll be taking with me on the weekend. I’m making the 4 hour trip from Bristol, England to Newquay in rural Cornwall (it’s not hard to see why, is it? 😉 ). I struggle with anxiety and sadly part of my anxiety includes amaxophobia – the fear of being a passenger. For me then, I need things that help me stay cool, occupy my senses and give me plenty of distraction. I’m also a minimalist, so I tend to pack quite light on my travels.

Are you ready to begin? Let’s go!

  1. My Water Bottle (ahem, “Juicy”)

I swear.. I called my water bottle my “Juicy” once and now it’s ingrained into me. I have to catch myself and correct myself sometimes, otherwise problems ensue! In the UK, apple & blackcurrant “squash” (basically a cordial) is really popular and I would probably drink it from a tap if I could. My good Sir knows that the best way to keep me hydrated is with a full Juicy!

2. Rescue Remedy Soothing Pastilles – Blackcurrant

The beauty of these pastilles is that they work. They’re completely natural and contain only essences of healing flowers. I’ve offered them to several people and time and time again they have proven themselves. Plus, loads of people love to “pip-pop” the lids for a little mindfulness!

3. My Slippers

Guys, I’m in a car for 4 hours so I might as well be comfortable. Being comfortable and soothed can go a long way to soothing anxiety and my slippers by far shall be no exception!

4. Mint Humbugs

Unfortunately I don’t have a photo to show you, but you can see a photo from Wikipedia here.

These lovely little brown mint sweets are full of creamy toffee and they are wonderful on the road. They have been part of all road trips for me since childhood and I don’t see that changing now. They were also a favourite of my dearly beloved late father so they have special memories and meanings for me.

5. My Samsung S7 Black

My trusty, waterproof black Samsung Galaxy S7 which is, perhaps not surprisingly, insured (three guesses who saw to that notion? *eye roll*). Quite often, I get an idea or I want to look something up, so having a smartphone with internet access is all too useful. Obviously, I can’t upload a picture of it!

6. My Silver Fuzzy Fleece Blanket

What did I tell you about this thing? It is at the height of all things fuzzy! It’s super soft, it’s light and it’s oh so snuggly. It’s perfect if I feel anxious but it definitely smells like bananas!

7. Skullcandy Jibs In-ear Earphones – Black

If you have cute little ears like I do, these in-ear earphones are super comfy! If I’m having a tough ol’ time with anxiety, I’ll even fall asleep with them in while I listen to some ASMR. The bass is great on them too, so it makes them perfect for picking up the beats. Although I don’t use them when I’m travelling with a car full of people (rude!), they are great to have if I get a bit of my own free time.

8. My Lenevo IDeapad 100S & Dongle

Again, although I won’t be using them on the road, having these with me will be super useful if I do get enough signal to upload a blog post or two. This laptop is smaller than a hardback book and super lightweight to carry around!

That’s all from me for now. Don’t forget, if you want to see photos of my vacation, be sure to follow me on Instagram!

What’s in your travel essentials bag? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time!

Hugs & kinky cuddles,

Elena xx
